The Boats

During the festival there will be opportunities to see, and in some cases sail, in a diverse range of boats.

The Inchcape Yachts

Inchcape Yacht

Eyemouth is the home of the 'Inchcape Yachts', boats designed and built in Eyemouth and now sailing all over the world. During the festival there will be a 'homecoming' with invitations extended to owners of these boats to celebrate with us in Eyemouth - more information

Coracles

Coracles

There will be a variety of Coracles with opportunities to take part in a 'build' and to have a go at sailing one, either in the harbour or in the swimming baths. - more information

SISCAE - World of Boats

There will be static displays in the town with a selection of 'World of Boats' extensive collection of boats from all over the world, plus several boats that will be back in their natural environment - 'on the water'.

Vessels Displayed Afloat on Pontoon and, weather permitting, under sail,oars or paddles in the bay.

FLEETWING A Dysart Yawl, built 1923 in Wemys and fully restored in 1992. Acquired by Andrew Thornhill in 2003 and prepared for sailing by volunteers at Eyemouth.

ARGONAUT. A Hastings beach boat normally rigged as a two mast lugger, but presently (temporarily) rigged as a gaff cutter using spars and sails 'borrowed' from a Morecame Bay shrimper. The hull restored before arriving in Eyemouth. The temporary sail rig fitted at Eyemouth.

DINGLE CURRAGH. A traditional lightweight 'frame and canvas' working craft from the west of Ireland operated by four oarsmen and, for safety sake, a steersman. Restoration by volunteers at Eyemouth.

SOLITAIRE A small rowing gig built in 1906 using timber from the bowsprit of the wrecked schooner 'Grace'. Built for a girl "Ivy Garys Wilson" later to become Mrs.Morgan Giles, who won many races in her. Restored at Eyemouth by local school children and recently used in the harbour.

TOBIQUE RIVER CANOE A traditional river canoe from New Brunswick in Canada and a decendant of the North American birch bark canoe.

BOUNTY LAUNCH. A replica of the ship's launch in which William Bligh and his loyal officers and men were set adrift following the mutiny on the Bounty. Used in making the 1982 film starring Liam Neilson and Anthony Hopkins. Appearing curtesy of the owner Stephan Walters.

BOYS OWN A large Northumberland coble from Seahouses, built in 1933 for the Rutter family. 'Cosmetic' restoration at Eyemouth by volunteers.

THE MARYS A Westray skiff from Orkney built around 1926. 'Cosmetic' restoration at Eyemouth by volunteers.

ANNIE A Shetland 'Fourereen'. 'Cosmetic' restoration at Eyemouth by volunteers.

MAGPIE A Norwegian faering built around 1980, fully restored to a seaworthy condition at Eyemouth by volunteers.

JULIANNA A Dutch leeboard dinghy or 'Tjotter' built around 1890. 'Cosmetic' restoration at Eyemouth by volunteers.

WILSON PICKET A Maltese water taxi or "Dysa". Work in Progress. The following boats to be displayed as work in progress.

MARCAN SINE A double ended inshore fishing boat from Stornoway, built in 1904. Being 'cosmetically' restored.

ELIZABETH A 16ft. Admiralty sailing gig built 1926. Being fully restored to a seaworthy condition.

COCKLESHELL A 1952 Merlin Rocket built at Eyemouth. Being restored to a fully seaworthy condition. Presented to the collection by Mr.I.Waddell.

Visiting Boats

Pax - Coble

Pax
9.7 metre Coble with half deck and wheelhouse
Owner: Chris Brown, Alnwick

Bonadventure.
A local fishing boat fishing for white fish (demersal). It pair trawls with the Rebecca.

Capella
A gaff rigger cutter designed by J.Laurant Giles and built by the owner on the lines of an East Coast Bawley. She carries a top sail and fore top sail.

Jamie
Built in 1939 by Curtis and Paper in Looe, Cornwall, a wooden motor sailer, long lead keel, Bermudan rig, 10 ton, 44 shp.

Gelli
Fairey Marine Atlanta 31, built in 1963 of hot moulded veneers of mahogany. Twin lifting keels. Extensively restored over the past two years.

Halcyon Oak.
This motor sailer was built at Eyemouth Boat Building Co. and is similar to the Inchcape class of Motor Sailors built by that yard. She was specifically designed to cross the Atlantic under sail and motor for charter on the east coast of the USA and crossed to and from twice spending several years on charter work. She is now based in the UK. She is constructed with iroko planking on oak frames and is gaff rigged.

Lady Sophie
This gaff rigged motor sailer was built by Dickie of Tarbet in 1911. North Star. This is an Offshore 101 constructed of GRP. She was built as a commercial vessel and has a certificate to carry up to twelve passengers. She will be working during the festival and the timetable for trips will be on display on the harbourside

Olympic Spirit.
This GRP catamaran is certified for commercial work. She will be working during the festival and the timetable for trips will be on display on the harbourside

RNLI.
There is a Trent Class RNLB based in Eyemouth which is berthed at a special berth in the new basin. The boatyard at Eyemouth is a repair and maintenance yard for RNLBs. There is usually a vessel under maintenance in the shed at the boatyard and often other vessels are in Eyemouth.

Puffin
This wood motor sailer is a converted lifeboat from the Mauritania. The young crew of 60 and 70 year olds are all members of the Lieth Unit RNSXA.

Spindrift of Medway.
A Loch Fyne Skiff built at Dickie of Tarbet in 1929/30. Built of pitch pine on oak with 500 sq.ft. sail, this vessel was believed to be at Dunkirk. This boat is based at Eyemouth.

Windsong, Gull 2, Jemima and Rainbow
These four boats are Shipmate Seniors, five metre Bermudan sailing sloops built in the 1970s.
